South African Afro-Soul and R&B singer Zonke has carbed out a distinctive career in South Africa’s vibrant musical landscape. The singer and songwriter has released a number of multi-platinum albums and regularly performs at sold-outm events.
She has written and co-written for dance artist Winnie Khumalo, Kwaito rapper Thebe, late R&B star TK and worked with legends like Bongo Maffin and Oskido.
Zonke released her much anticipated 6th studio album, L.O.V.E, which stands for “Living Out Various Emotions”. Upon its release, the album was top of the charts on iTunes across all genres. L.O.V.E is currently the number one selling album at Musica Africa with many positive reviews on social media.
The Soil is a 3-member South African acapella group, consisting of members: Buhlebendalo Mda, Luphindo Ngxanga and Ntsika Fana Ngxanga. There is a transcendental fourth member of the group existing in a spiritual form, referred to as The Creator Of All.
Their music style is defined as Kasi Soul, a contemporary township style that is an eclectic mix of jazz, hip-hop, Afro-pop and Afro-soul. The Soil strives to fuse their voices to deliver melodic and harmonious messages that are aimed at uplifting and healing souls all around the world.
In 2015, The Soil was nominated for the prestigious BET awards for Best International Act – Africa. The group recently toured the USA and Cuba in June of this year, performing to South Africans living abroad.
After performing on stage worldwide, and being subject to influences from abroad, Catarina Duarte brings a multicultural selection of music around vocal jazz with a swing and Bossa nova touch.
In her past, she went through various musical genres, from the Portuguese Fado to jazz and lusphone music, weaving an assorted and distinctive touch to her style. Each of the musicians from her quartet is currently working on their own projects, thus, making each show of Catarina a warm and cozy musical reunion that reverberates throughout the audience.
Suzy Eises is a saxophonist, composer and educator hailing from the diamond-mining town of Oranjemund. After attending a music course at the London Centre of Contemporary Music in 2010, Suzy has worked with various popular local artists such as Ras Sheehama and Gazza. She has performed on both national and international stages, sharing it with Mi casa, Jimmy Dludlu and Simphiwe Dana.
Suzy earned six nominations at the 2018 Namibian Annual Music Awards, and she went on to receive the coveted Best Album of the Year and Best Newcomer Awards. This talented musician leads her own band and teaches saxophone privately.
Sedney Haufiku is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. His music career started in 1996 when he started singing in the Mascot Coastal Youth Choir. The choir performed overseas, such as Portugal, Germany, France, Spain and Canada.
Sedney has played guitar at various platforms, including previous Windhoek Jazz Festival and at the Warehouse Fu-jazz. Sedney now sings in the group, Collective Singers. In May this year, they had the opportunity to represent Namibia in Germany where they toured for two weeks.
Lize Ehlers has been affectionately called “The Voice of Namibia”, because of her versatile and emotional delivery of songs. The commemorated singer and songwriter has won numerous awards, including the NAMA’s Best Live Performer Award 2016. She amazed the nation when she performed her hit song CHANGE at the 25th Celebration of Namibia’s Independence in 2015 for the inauguration of Namibia’s 3rd President Hon. Hage Geingob
Lize’s arsenal of talent ranges from singing, hosting, acting, reciting, scripting, directing, mentoring, multimedia production and facilitating amongst other. She recently won the Diamond Award for Social Work Through Art at 2018 Simply You Magazine Lifestyle And Fashion Awards.
Percival Anthony Rinquest has been a music ambassador for Namibia since the age of 13, representing his country in South Africa and the USA as a vocalist in the R&B and Pop categories.
He has performed at numerous charity events for AIDs and cancer awareness, and other renowned stages namely the Windhoek Jazz Festival, Battles of the Bands and ATKV Kyknet with Solly Philander.
Damas Fusion is a dynamic Namibian Afro jazz artist. Her music is a vibrant blend of Besu; her mother’s poetic linguistics; chants of the Khoe people; elements of jazz and complexed rhythms of Southern Africa. The artist has been playing music for over a decade and exemplifies mastery of her craft and vocal ability.
Elemotho is the only Namibian musician to win the RFI-France 24 Discoveries Award in 2012 amongst a list of more than 500 African, Indian and Pacific artists. This hard working artist from the Kalahari has taken his acoustic guitar all over the African continent, Europe, Asia and the Americas. He has shard the stage with many acclaimed artists like Hugh Masekela, UB40, Eryka Badu and Johnny Clegg to mention but a few.
Elemotho is known for his infection energy that can makes listeners want to smile, cry and dance all at once. His songs stir the mind, calm the spirit and explore the depths of the human spirit.
Sigera Jazz Band is a six-piece band formed in 2006 by previously retired musicians who specialize in performing live gigs. The band performs a mixture of golden oldies cover versions, ranging from fusion jazz, pop, ballroom and Mbaqanga.
The band has performed at various high profile events, including the Frans Indongo’s 70th birthday bash, Klipenberg Music Festival and a series of live performances around the country in Windhoek, Luderitz and Walvis-Bay.
